1. Students presented their love poems and turned in disclosures.
2. The class discussed six elements of figurative language and how to effectively use each inside the lines of a poem: metaphor, simile, personification, alliteration, hyperbole, and onomatopoeia. 3. Students wrote two lines of each type in class as we discussed. 4. Students were assigned a 12-line, non-rhyming poem, with two examples of each type of figurative language in the poem.
