Students were asked to pick any country in the world and write their name on the board next to the country. They could not pick the same country as someone in their class.
Students then researched warriors from the middle ages (500-1000 A.D.) and created their own hero/deadliest warrior based on their location and the time period. Students are to write a couple of paragraphs identifying/discussing the following about their hero: A research-based fictional history of their hero. His/her battlespace. i.e. the types of military they would have and the terrain. Weapons Tactics Strategies One element of fantasy. (In Beowulf, there are dragons and monsters). In addition to researching and writing about their hero, students are to draw a picture of this hero. When creating the picture, students should consider colors, armor (if any), weaponry, their environment, and their element of fantasy.
