Students presented their brochures. Quiz next time (Ch. 4-5)
Students used the Senior Exhibition Handbook (Pages 10-13) and lecture from the teacher to create a professional resume and cover letter. Both were uploaded to their new digital portfolios. Cover letters and resumes should be directed towards the job/career they want to shadow. Students MUST turn in their Digital Authorization forms ASAP!!
Students learned how to create a digital portfolio using the site Weebly.com
Instructions: 1. Sign up for the free site. 2. Choose "site." 3. Pick a theme (this can be changed later). Students should choose a theme that appears professional and is not a distraction. 4. Choose a sub-domain name. This should be related to your name i.e. bobjones.weebly.com or mrhaslam.weebly.com. 5. Students may watch the tutorial or ask the teacher for assistance on site design. 6. Students should click the "pages" tab and add three pages entitled: Grizzly Pride Project, Resume/Cover Letter, and Writing Samples. If the site refuses to allow extra pages, click the "copy page" option at the bottom. 6. Students should use the Contact form on Mr. Haslam's site to send him a message. In the "comments" section, the student should list the URL for their new Weebly site and send it to him. 7. On the "About" page of their site, students should write a 1 page autobiography. This autobiography should be professional, should include a professional photo, and should be published. Students can look at Mr. Haslam's About page for an example if needed. To add a photo or text for the autobiography, simply drag "image" or "text" from the grey menu on the left hand side into the middle and begin.
Students must also decide on a specific audience/group that they are going to be targeting and that they will be trying to appeal to in these brochures i.e. Japanese tourists, honeymooners, car salesmen, outdoorsmen, a choir group etc. Students struggling with this assignment can search for travel brochure examples on Google or other search engines.
Students were introduced to the Career Interest Profiler on Pg. 9 of the Senior Exhibition Handbook. They completed the profiler and the reflection essay that it discusses on the bottom of the page. Rough draft due next time.
Students took down the following notes on how to write a proposal:Follow these steps when writing a proposal:
Students also looked at a sample proposal that can be found on the September calendar. Students may follow this template when writing their proposal papers. The worksheet on Pg. 7 of the Senior Exhibition Handbook is due next time. The rough drafts for the proposals will be due at the end of class next time. |
